We'll Take Care of It

Nobody wants their house opened up. Here is the honest version of what happens.

Two to Three Days

That is the plumbing on most Las Vegas homes, start to finish.

You Stay in Your House

The water is only off for part of it, and we shut it down in stages rather than all at once.

Small Access Points

Not torn-out walls. Usually six to a dozen openings depending on the layout.

We Pull the Permit

Filed and inspection scheduled, so the work is documented when you sell.

The Old Pipe Leaves With Us

You do not deal with any of it.

One Number in Writing

Before we start, from the person who is actually doing the work.

Local Company or National Repipe Chain

A repipe is one of the larger numbers a homeowner runs into, and the quotes you get will vary more than you expect. Price is the easy thing to compare. These are the harder ones, and they are worth asking whoever you call.

Big plumbing decisions are stressful, and most people have no reason to know what a repipe or a sewer replacement should cost. Having a second set of eyes on it should not cost you anything.

Signs You Need Repiping Services, Not Just a Repair

You are probably looking at a repipe if several of these are true at once:

  • Repeat leaks. Two or three pinholes in a year means the rest of the pipe is the same age and the same condition

  • Low water pressure throughout the house, not just at one fixture

  • Rusty, brown, or discolored water, especially first thing in the morning

  • Visible corrosion on exposed pipe in the garage, attic, or under sinks

  • Pipe 40 years old or more that has never been touched

  • Polybutylene pipe, which fails without warning

  • You are selling, and an inspector flagged the plumbing

One leak is a repair. A pattern of leaks is a system telling you something.

PEX vs Copper

Compare
PEX
Copper
What it is
PEXFlexible plastic tubing, run in long continuous lengths.
CopperRigid metal pipe, cut and soldered at each joint.
Hard water
PEXNot affected by scale. The mineral content in Las Vegas water does not corrode it.
CopperScale builds inside over time, and minerals can wear through the wall in small spots. That is where pinhole leaks come from.
Joints
PEXFewer joints, because it bends around corners. Fewer places to leak.
CopperA soldered joint at every turn. More connections in the wall.
Install time
PEXFaster. Less drywall has to come out.
CopperSlower. More access openings and more labor.
Cost
PEXLower on both material and labor.
CopperHigher on both. Material price also moves with the metals market.
Lifespan
PEXLong, and manufacturer warranties are typically substantial. Ask us what yours covers.
CopperLongest proven track record in good conditions. Our water shortens it.
Temperature
PEXHandles the swings in a Las Vegas attic well.
CopperExpands and contracts, which is part of what wears hot water lines against concrete under a slab.
Rodents
PEXCan be chewed, though it is rare in finished walls.
CopperNot vulnerable.
Best for
PEXMost Las Vegas homes, and any repipe where minimizing drywall work matters.
CopperOwners who want metal pipe specifically, or exposed runs where appearance counts.

What we usually suggest. PEX for most homes here, because hard water is what wears out pipe in this valley and PEX is not affected by it. If you would rather have copper, we install copper. It is your house, and we will quote either one.

Partial, Whole House, or the Water Line

Not every house needs everything replaced, and these are three different jobs that often get called the same thing.

  • Whole house repiping. Every supply line replaced, main shutoff to fixtures. The right call when the pipe is uniformly old or the material has failed.

  • Partial repiping. One section, one run, or one wing of the house. Works when the problem is genuinely isolated and the rest of the system is sound.

  • Water line replacement. The single line running from your meter to the house. This is not a repipe, it is one buried run, and it is a separate job with its own excavation. Plenty of homes need this and nothing else.

We tell you which one you are looking at. If a partial does the job, we say so.

Do You Need a Full House Repiping or Just a Leak Repair?

A repair is probably enough when:

  • It is your first leak

  • The pipe is copper, under 30 years old, and otherwise in good shape

  • The problem is one isolated run

Repiping makes more sense when:

  • You have had several leaks in a short window

  • The pipe is polybutylene

  • The pipe is galvanized and pressure is dropping

  • Repair costs are stacking up toward the price of doing it once

We will tell you which one you are looking at. If a repair holds, that is what we quote.

What Pipe Is in Your Vegas Home, and When It Was Put There

Las Vegas built out in waves, and each one left behind a different problem. You can usually narrow down what is in your walls by when your house was built.

Not sure which you have? We can usually tell you in a few minutes from the exposed pipe in the garage or under a sink.
